Mount Hood National Forest: Just an hour's drive from Portland, Mount Hood National Forest offers endless opportunities for hiking, fishing, and mountain biking. The forest also has numerous campgrounds, including the popular Trillium Lake Campground.

Crater Lake National Park: A bit further afield but worth the drive, Crater Lake National Park is about 180 miles southeast of Portland. The park is home to one of the deepest lakes in the world and offers spectacular hiking trails and scenic drives.
